Zimeng

     

     

Zimeng Wang is an exceptional flutist originally from China who will start her Doctoral study with Jonathan Keeble in the fall of 2023. She is involved in exciting commissioning projects for her university, including the NYU Orchestra, Contemporary Music Ensemble, and various chamber groups. Wang is enthusiastic about expanding her repertoire by working with a combination of musicians, combining historic and modern melodies to create strikingly beautiful pieces. Off-campus, she has performed frequently with the New York Flutists. Zimeng is also enthusiastic about expanding her repertoire by studying Traverso and piccolo with Keith Underwood. She completed her Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma at NYU under the guidance of Soo-Kyung Park and Yoobin Son. While she stays in the United States, she has performed in masterclasses by renowned flutists including Leone Buyse, Ransom Wilson, Alberto Almarza, Alexa Still, Lorna McGhee, among others. 

She also expresses her talent in various visual forms. Zimeng is not only talented in playing the flute, but she is an amazing photographer and writer. She loves to travel to undiscovered places and corners of the city with her camera and documents them in her photography. Her works were published in China National Travel Magazine. 

Back in China, she completed her Bachelor's from Xiamen University where she thrived as a talented and celebrated flutist and student. traveled to Asian countries to explore and learn how Chinese music started and evolved throughout these years.
